Week 4 - Take-off
3D Model of A320
Looked into exporting AC3D files into Blender for clean up before then exporting the aeroplane to unity.
http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Work_with_AC3D_files_in_Blender - This article helped me achieve the conversion so I was able to edit the assets. Still a lot of work needs tweaking and creating before I am able to achieve a VR environment in Unity using the Oculus Quest 2 that is effectively Mobile Hardware and is a limitation I need to work around. Low poly would be easy to run but not very realist for the user, Needs to be a perfect balance.
Started Research
https://services.airbus.com/en/newsroom/stories/2019/12/airbus-brings-cockpit-to-you-with-new-virtual-reality-flight-trainer.html - Airbus has VR flight trainers but you have to be linked to a high powered PC. I liked the idea you can have a real instructor present to help you & the interaction seem fluent.
https://ccntservice.airbus.com/apps/cockpits/a320/ - Great reference image as I have personally never been in a aircraft cockpit let alone a plane.
https://www.a320simulator.be/ - This project is going somewhere in the right direction.
https://youtu.be/BeVWGU5dU3s - Unlisted on YouTube but another prime example on the direction this project needs to grow towards. Again still running from a PC to archive those grate visuals.
